PhD Completion Study

Inside Higher Ed reports that the Council of Graduate Schools is working on a research project about why and when PhD Students finish. The preliminary results cited in this article are interesting.

Not surprisingly, the data indicate that finances play a large factor in completion rates. And since most of us have spent the greater part of our spring semester applying for capricious funding, I am willing to bet that many would concur with these findings.

I would be interested to see what the rates of completion look like at Emory for those who have 4 year funding and those who get 5 year funding.

I would be interested in that too, Brian. I know that Robert and Susanna, who both had five years of funding, finished last year and have jobs now...
